Wrinkles, sadly are part of life, but that doesn’t mean you have to live with them! They occur because the elasticity and volume in your skin decreases as you get older. Currently, we can’t stop you ageing but we can do something for those annoying wrinkles!
The treatment, ‘Botulinum Toxin’ has been around for a while and is a protein derived from bacteria.
It’s a protein which stops the movement (paralyses) of the muscles involved in forming wrinkles.
Wrinkles commonly occur around your eyes (crow’s feet), mouth and on your forehead.
The botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles where wrinkles have formed. The procedure should take no longer than 15 minutes and is virtually painless. However, if you are ‘needle phobic’ we can numb the area with topical before injecting the treatment.
The most common would be a small degree of bruising around the site of injection. Others have reported a mild headache. Both these should not last longer than one day.
The results should be visible typically within 10-14 days. Treatments generally last between to 4-6 months but sometimes may last longer.
As mentioned earlier, the procedure should take no longer than 15 minutes after which you are free to return to the rest of your day! As with all procedures we advise you to refrain from strenuous activities and other facial treatments for at least 24 hours!
Following your procedure and list of aftercare instructions will be sent to you.
Those with allergies to eggs are likely to be allergic to anti wrinkle injections and so are not suitable. Those with a lactose intolerance also may not be suitable to certain products. It is important to relay all medical information accurately to you clinician . Patients who are pregnant or breast feeding are also not suitable to anti wrinkle treatment. If there are any signs of infection on the face and at injection sites it is best to delay treatment until these areas resolve.
